International Day of Forests, 2018
Care Luit and partner organization IORA Ecological Solutions supported Assam Forest Department in organising the International Day of Forests in Guwahati, Assam on March 21. Hon'ble Chief Minister and Minister of Environment and Forests graced the occasion. The CM acknowledged the Carbon Neutral Majuli project's success and launched the generic action plans and also announced support for a clean cooking program to reduce deforestation and prevent erosion, and also improve indoor air quality for households dependant on fuelwood.
Act East Policy
Care Luit is supporting the promotion of "Act East Policy" through a number of campaigns and dialogues. Assam and the north-east has the potential to open the region’s economy for major business investments by the ASEAN member countries that could result in industrial growth and generate employment opportunities. Most recently in October 2017, we were part of the high level delegation which met the External Affairs and Civil Aviation Ministers to request support for the upcoming Global Business Summit in Guwahati to be held on February 3, 2018.
World Environment Day, 2018
Care Luit, in collaboration with Shrimanta Shankar Academy Senior Secondary School celebrated World Environment Day 2018 in Guwahati. Students and Teachers joined the plantation drive in the campus and presented a talk show, environment themed chorus and extempore on the 2018 theme #BeatPlasticPollution.
Care Luit in partnership with IORA Ecological Solutions celebrated World Environment Day 2018 at Karmashree Hiteswar Saikia College. The students and teachers planted approximately 50 saplings in the campus.
Care Luit's Managing Trustee Kishor Jayanta Madhab was invited as a Guest of Honor to the World Environment Day programme jointly organised by Mayang Anchalik College and Lokapriya GNB Secondary School in Pobitora, Guwahati.
Carbon Neutral Majuli
Care Luit has partnered with IORA Ecological Solutions in developing a low carbon pathway for the world's largest river island. Launched by the Assam government as Sustainable Action for Climate-Resilient Development (SACReD) in Majuli, this project is part of the French Development Agency-assisted Assam Project on Forest and Biodiversity Conservation to combat climate change and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The efforts will lead to establishing Majuli as India's first carbon-neutral district by 2020.
Son of the Soil Awards-2018
Care Luit instituted an excellence award called "Son Of The Soil Award" in 2016. The Award, will be presented every two years to upcoming and enterprising individuals. In the first year, the award was conferred in 5 categories - Emerging Entrepreneur, Emerging Administrator, Emerging Artist, Emerging Media Personality, and Emerging Sportsperson.
Care Luit instituted this award with an objective to encourage and recognize the indigenous young people who have made their mark in their respective fields. The Award consists of a memento and Fifty One Thousand Rupees for each category.

Van Mahotsav 2018
Care Luit is led the Van Mahotsav 2018 celebrations in Jorhat. Starting with a cycle rally and plantations drive in Nimati Ghaat on July 1, Care Luit in collaboration with local communities conducted an awareness meeting on July 5. The meeting was attended by MP Shri Kamakhya Tasa, Padmashri Jadav Payeng, SP Shri Nimbalkar Vaibhav, Shri Pawan Bordoloi (Vice Chairman Jorhat Municipal Body), Senior Scientists from Rainforest Research Institute and Tocklai Tea Research Institute
Emerging Opportunities in Bamboo
Care Luit convened a sectoral seminar titled "Emerging opportunities in Bamboo" at the first global investors' summit "Advantage Assam" held in Guwahati on February 3-4, 2018. The seminar was chaired by Honorable Minister for Environment and Forest, Mrs. Pramila Rani Brahma and presided over by Mr. Ravi Kota, IAS, Principal Secretary, Gov. of Assam.
Care Luit organized a stall in the exhibition area to demonstrate the versatility and durability of Bamboo-wood.
Advantage Assam - Global Investors' Summit
Bamboo is widely referred to as the super material of the 21st century, given its diverse use. India has the second largest reserves of bamboo in the world. Leveraging this can spur gainful employment and income generation especially in states like Assam and the rest of North East India which has substantial bamboo reserves and where bamboo is an intrinsic part of local culture.
Care Luit was appointed as the nodal agency by Govt. of Assam's Department of Industries and Commerce to organise a sectoral session on "Emerging Opportunities in Bamboo" on February 4th at the Global Investors' Summit.
Honorable Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi visited the special Bamboo stall in the exhibition area on the first day of the summit.
Son of the Soil Awards 2018
The second biennial Award function was organised on June 2, 2018 in Guwahati. Care Luit announced a call for nominations through online and targeted outreach requesting nominations in the five categories. The panel of jury members selected this year’s winners based on the comprehensive inputs received for each nomination.
